After 29 years’ experience in the field, Rubaroc has researched, developed and sourced its own granular rubber and accessory materials – branded as Rubaroc.

Materials
Granules
EPDM is Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer, which is a type of synthetic rubber. EPDM rubber offers excellent resistance to heat, ozone, acids and bases.
Available in a range of chip sizes – large 1-4mm to small .5mm to 1.5mm max/min dimensions.
Styrene-Butadiene rubber (SBR or Styrene-butadiene) is a synthetic rubber comprising of styrene and butadiene monomers. The random copolymer has characteristics like natural rubber and contains: Styrene content in the range of 10-25% contributing to good wearing and bonding characteristics.
Matrix
Resin – Aromatic Isocyanate or modified epoxy
Primer - Formula of Resin thinned with acetate
Finish Coatings - Polyurethane
Final Finish
-
Natural: Hand troweled = Phase I
-
Mastic: Hand troweled fully cured and dry finished surface with the additional top coat of fine granule/resin = Phase II (Water proof)
-
Sanded Mastic: Application of two coats 4-5mm each of polyurethane to the Mastic finished surface, and sanded smooth with 50 grit sandpaper = Phase III
Preparation
Clean the existing substrate
(concrete, 5% stabilized crushed rock, or asphalt)
with a broom and vacuum if required – ensuring
all loose material is removed.
Installation of forming and screeds as required.
Application by roller of one coat of primer 2mm thick.

Application
Your customised colour selection is mixed onsite with resin in a non-porous container at a resin-to-granule ratio which will ensure complete coverage of each granule of rubber.
Hand trowel the mixture onto a primed substrate at a uniform thickness and finish as shown on plans/drawings.
Where no plans/drawings are provided, the thickness of the finished surface will be included in our contract (Purchase Agreement).

Curing Protection
Barricades and screens should be erected to prevent pedestrian traffic on a newly finished Rubaroc surface for a period of 48 HOURS.
